A Rational Defense of Ratchetness by Jersey Campbell

Do you live in the New York Metropolitan area? Turn on your radio (do radios still exist?). Now turn the FM dial to 105.1 or 97.1. Soak in the ignorance. Bask in the ratchetness. Let it marinate in your mind.

Ratchetness” is an epidemic people, and it doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon. Don’t fret people of Earth, there is a way to reconcile the rampant ratchetness infecting our culture with ideas that make actual sense and can be identified as reasonable.

Play Sound Boy Play: World Clash NY 2012 Wrap-up by Jersey Campbell



           It’s the day after World Clash New York 2012, and I still smell as if I bathed in a spring of ganja… for a week. I will try to give you a rundown of the night’s proceedings as only a layman can. While I have Jamaican origins, my knowledge of the culture and history of my parents’ homeland is rather incomplete. Sound clashing has its origins in the island of Jamaica, and can be described as DJs battling one another for crowd supremacy. But before we get to the sounds and their performances, let’s talk about the atmosphere at the venue, Amazura of Queens, NY.
